Take a stand with us!
Why do we do this?
Antisemitism is wrong!
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39
We believe in a Jewish Messiah (Jesus was Jewish!)
We believe in a Jewish book (the Bible), written by Jewish people
We are part of of a Jewish covenant (Jeremiah 31:31) and the core of our faith is based on promises from the Jewish prophets (Daniel 9:24-26, Isaiah 53)
In love, we seek to understand and serve the Jewish community.
In love, we desire to have conversations about our shared beliefs.
In love, we commit to stand with the Jewish community against antisemitism.
If you are Jewish, we want to engage with you and stand with you.
If you are not Jewish, stand with the Jewish people against antisemitism. It’s the right thing to do!
In light of the recent massacre in Israel and increasing antisemitism around the world, we, as Christians, are taking a stand to express our support and solidarity with the Jewish community. We are aware of the long history of Christian antisemitism and know that it still exists even until today. We want to clearly state that this is not acceptable and is contrary to the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament.
Many ask what motivates us to take this step when other Christians don’t. God’s Word is very clear that we each should “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is stated in the Torah in Leviticus 19:18 and by Jesus in Matthew 22:39. Our shared religious heritage is something that should unify Christians and Jewish people. This shared heritage is even more pronounced when you realize that we as Christians believe in a Jewish book (both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are written by Jewish authors), we follow a Jewish Messiah (Jesus was Jewish!), and we are privileged to take part in a Jewish covenant (Jeremiah 31:31 makes it clear that the New Covenant is with the “house of Israel and the house of Judah”). As Christians, the very core of our identity (being forgiven through the sacrifice of the messiah) is something that was prophesied by the Jewish prophets (Isaiah 53, Daniel 9:24–26, Psalm 22).
The history of Christian antisemitism is a result of people forgetting the roots of their faith and the commandments of God. Our desire is to stand against this and to show love to our neighbors as we are commanded. In love, we seek to better understand the needs of the Jewish community and how we can serve them. In love, we desire to have conversations about our shared beliefs and what makes us each unique. In love, we commit to stand with the Jewish community against antisemitism in all its forms.
If you are Jewish, we ask you to reach out to us so we can engage with you, learn from you, and stand with you.
If you are Christian, we ask you to take the same stand against antisemitism as we do, based on the solid reasons our faith gives us.
If you are neither of the above, we encourage you to stand with the Jewish people because it is the right thing to do. Hate is wrong and it will only stop when we stand up to it, both in our own hearts and the world around us.
